Course Description: This course reviews the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social changes
that typically occur during adolescence. Topics include classic and contemporary theories of
adolescent development and the interactions between adolescents and their social and cultural
environments.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of the major concepts in the study of adolescence.
2. Become familiar with major theories and theorists of Adolescence.
3. Demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate the major research, publications, and
empirical studies of Adolescence.
4. Understand the major controversies in the study of Adolescence.
